National Inventors Month helps promote the positive image of inventors and the real contributions they give to this world. It is a way to recognize those talented and brave individuals who dare to be blatantly creative, and therefore different.
Here are some creative inventions that have remained popular since their inception:
1899 — Ferdinand Porsche developed the first working hybrid electric vehicle, though it was not until the late 20th century that hybrid vehicles were mass produced.
1920 — A Johnson & Johnson employee was worried about his wife – an inexperienced cook who continually burned herself – being able to apply bandages to herself while he was away. He created the first Band-Aid by combining a piece of surgical tape and a piece of gauze.
1974 — Arthur Fry wanted a way to bookmark the pages in his hymnal without the bookmark falling out and without ruining the hymnal pages. A colleague of his at 3M had developed a sticky adhesive that left no residue. Thinking this may be his solution he took some of the adhesive and put it on the edge of a piece of paper – which led to the Post-It Note.
2008 — The Touch Sight Camera was invented so the blind can take photos. The camera is pressed against the forehead and a photo is taken. The photo is then translated into a raised image on the Braille-like screen.
Inventist is proud to announce its participation in National Inventors Month, although for us, every month is Inventors Month because we acknowledge innovation and creativity throughout the year. All of the products Inventist sells were thought up, designed, and created by founder and President, Shane Chen.
National Inventors Month is a month long event celebrating invention and creativity. National Inventors Month was started in 1998 by the United Inventors Association of the USA, the Academy of Applied Science, and Inventors' Digest magazine.
Get creative. Think outside the box. Invent the Future.
